Apache Pig is a high-level scripting language and platform built on top of the Hadoop ecosystem, designed to simplify the development of complex data processing tasks. Developed by Yahoo!, Pig enables data analysts and developers to express data transformations using a simple scripting language called Pig Latin, abstracting away the intricacies of low-level MapReduce programming.Pig operates on the principle of data flow, where a series of transformations are applied to input data to produce the desired output. Pig Latin scripts consist of a sequence of operations such as loading data, transforming it using filters or aggregations, and storing the results.One of Pig's strengths lies in its optimization capabilities, allowing users to focus on the logic of data transformations while Pig takes care of the underlying execution details. This abstraction enhances productivity and enables rapid development of data processing workflows.Pig seamlessly integrates with Hadoop, leveraging the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and MapReduce for distributed data storage and processing.
