Metaverse is a vibrant space of virtual experience that’s attracting a lot of discourse on the internet these days. It’s a powerful concept that aims to connect the world in a virtual space impacting every aspect of human’s life.
The concept of metaverse is a mix of physical and virtual worlds that allows interaction of real world objects to enable reaction in the virtual world.
The applications of metaverse revolves around almost anything you can imagine. Any of our physical world scenarios could be mimicked in the metaverse.
Lately, Facebook has deliberated on its vision for metaverse that cleared the air of applications of metaverse and the technology horizon that could enable rich user experience.
This article discusses the 4 applications of metaverse that recently came from the technology giant.
Metaverse for Advertising Industry will use Mixed Reality
Metaverse is at the very start of its plan now where it’s simply creating awareness among its potential consumers. The list includes advertising agencies as well.
Mixed Reality (MR) is an emerging term associated with metaverse and is one of the three types in extended reality (EX). MR is different from Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in that it allows physical world objects (such as your body) to be used to interact with the virtual objects.
AR also uses the physical objects in its virtual world but those objects couldn’t be used to influence virtual reactions. Similarly, VR offers what we call a ‘total virtual experience’ with no interaction with the virtual objects.
An example of MR application in advertising would seem something like this. A toy vendor releases a new product; ‘a rescue fire truck’ that you want to try out. A virtual space (designed by the toy vendor) would enable you to demo the toy just as you do in the real world.
You could move across the vehicle in 3D, and zoom in, zoom out to view details. You could pull the ladder to see how long it could unfold and you could test the mechanics of the vehicle by dragging it on the floor.

Meta recently hosted a number of advertising agencies at the Zoom roundtable conference and explained the pragmatic view of MR to be used in advertising applications.
Meta deliberate its estimated time frame to build an interconnected network of MR world by the end of the decade.
Metaverse as Employee Training Centers and Hang out Spaces
It’s very difficult to imagine yourself working for hours in a virtual space. Admittedly, it’s very tough to wear a headset and immerse yourself in the virtual world for long periods of time.
For now the actual applications (that’s the ‘goal oriented’ uses of Metaverse), are limited to Employee training centers and Hang out spaces that are enjoyable and would not tire or cause nausea to you.
Employee training centers would set a virtual environment for employees that employees could interact around with virtual props just as the real world training scenario would employ.
Meta has collaborated with Coursera and other brands to create immersive learning experiences in training scenarios. This application is critical for the global workforce that will allow individuals to get a high paying job no matter where the employee is located.
The practical applications of Hang out spaces lies in the fact that it’s 10 times better than virtual calls. Employees could walk in office rooms, and discuss work matters for a time. They could have office parties with lightning and DJ systems.
Metaverse fetches investments from Big Companies
Right now, Meta and Microsoft are two big companies investing their financial and human resources on the Metaverse. Seeing these huge companies take part in creating virtual environments, other brands see better prospects in the Metaverse too.
Meta and Microsoft have influence in shaping consumer behavior with innovative technology introductions. It’s worthwhile for other companies to evaluate Meta and Microsoft’s course and participate in the new economy which these companies are building.
Metaverse Virtual Stadium for Football Fans
We know the football fans out there can’t control their excitement while reading this. In the coming years, fans of the English Premier League would be chanting slogans for their football team while watching them play in the virtual stadium.
It’s going to be an unprecedented digital experience where the celebrity players could interact with fans in the virtual world irrespective of their geographical location.
As a starter of this innovative paradigm, Manchester City and Sony are joining hands to build a virtual stadium with the appearance of Etihad Stadium. The proof-of-concept (PoS) is yet to be held by Sony and Manchester city.
An electronic tracking system along with Data Analytics technology would be used to track and estimate movement and poses of players as they play. Adding to this, the data enhanced visualization will create a real time virtual imagery of the match.
